SUBJECT: Residency Status


I. PURPOSE

The purpose of this Policy is to define residency status for students.

IV. POLICY

  1. A student classified as a non-resident of the State of Utah is required to pay a non-resident fee. Any non-resident student who has reason to believe they can qualify for resident status should submit an application for Utah Resident Classification for Tuition Purposes to the Admissions Office within the designated time frame for each term. Application forms are available in the Admissions Office or online. Each application will be considered in accordance with the provisions of Utah residency law.
  2. The meaning of the word "resident" shall be determined by reference to the general law domicile as defined in Utah System of Higher Education Policy R512.
  3. A prospective student whose credentials indicate out-of-state status is classified as a non-resident for tuition purposes.
  4. A change in residence status is not an automatic procedure. Students who wish more information may consult with a Residency Officer in the Admissions Office and/or review the information provided online.
