Description:

Assist with the installation and maintenance of the SUU network. This includes installing twisted pair and fiber cabling and configuring network equipment. Troubleshoot network problems including issues with routing, spanning tree and/or performance. Network security must be considered in everything. Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Honest and self motivated yet willing to accept instructions. Be familiar with network topologies and Ethernet protocols such as TCP/IP. Understanding of different types of cabling and their unique installation and termination requirements, including fiber and Cat 6 twisted pair. Have an understanding of layers 1 through 4 of the OSI model. Have problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities. Work well with other students, faculty and staff. Some lifting may occasionally be required.
