Description:

Primary Purpose Teach a variety of Dance courses and help to coordinate, develop the Dance program within the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Key Responsibilities Teach in several diverse dance areas including: Technique, History, Pedagogy, Responsibilities: Choreography/Improvisation, Movement, and Musical Theatre. Focus on Modern dance, with demonstrated additional ability in jazz / ballet and/or ethnic forms.

Manage annual pre-professional dance concert(s); Create original choreography for the Department of Theatre and Dance productions; Maintain strong creative presence in the department.

Recruit for departmental courses and productions; Engage in outreach activity (i.e. high schools; local studios; fund-raising efforts such as New Year’s Eve Gala).

Foster collegial university and community relations; Actively collaborate with School of Performing Arts faculty; Participate in departmental/university service activities; Advise dance majors and minors.

Other academic duties as assigned based on workload.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications Masters of Fine Arts in dance or PhD in dance. The ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications College teaching experience and strong organizational skills.
