A new Postdoctoral Fellow position is open immediately at the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology, University of Utah, USA.
Our research focuses on the basic molecular mechanisms of fat expansion and the development of peripheral insulin resistance. Current projects include 1) adipose stem cells heterogeneity and visceral obesity, 2) redox-modulation of adipocyte function, 3) the role of adipocyte autophagy in inflammation, 4) insulin/IGF1 receptors signaling and autophagy regulation. Multidisciplinary approaches are utilized including in vitro cell culture, flow cytometry, genetically engineered mouse models (GEMM), in vivo metabolic assessment. WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, days, M-F with occasional nights and weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION: $35,000 to $45,000/year. Strong benefit package including tuition reduction program, retirement and health plan options.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform self-directed research
2. Maintain mouse colonies and isolate animal tissues for experiments
3. Collaborate with scientists externally and internally
4. Demonstrate effective communication skills; present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publications in scientific journals
5. Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: Highly creative and motivated biologists with Ph.D., M.D., or both degrees, and proven record of research productivity are welcome to apply.
PREFERENCES: Working experience using Transgenic/Knockout Mouse Models and adipocyte biology is valuable; knowledge of CRSPR/Cas9, Cell Signaling, Stem Cells, and bioinformatics is a plus.
