Description:

This position assists Principal Investigators in their Department/College by performing administrative and technical functions associated with grants, contracts, and other agreements from external funding sources. The grants administrator also serves as a liaison to the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the Office of the Vice President and Research, and other campus entities as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

COMPENSATION: $39,300 to $72,700/year. Strong benefit package including tuition reduction program, generous leave accrual, retirement and health plan options.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares and negotiates budgets and provides financial analysis to HCI Trials Office Management. • Analyzes clinical trial protocols to create clinical trial budgets. • Develops billing grid/calendar in Oncore (Clinical Trial Management Software) • Negotiates budgets with industry sponsors. • Meet with Principle Investigators in developing Billing Grid/Calendar regarding study vs standard of care procedures. • Coordinates with the Office of Sponsored Projects to ensure timely contract review. • Works with research coordinators, physicians, and other departments to resolve financial and logistical clinical trial issues. • Recommends and implements unit process improvements. • Works with other unit staff to coordinate language in financial and regulatory documents.

Daily: 80% • Review Protocol and identify procedures that will be performed for the Clinical Trial. • Meet with PI to determine procedures that are SOC versus Study. • Prepare Internal budget • Prepare Billing Grid/Study Calendar in Oncore • Negotiate budget with Sponsor • Liaison with OSP for awarding Sponsor Contracts • Meet with coordinators to ensure Oncore calendar is working properly Miscellaneous: 20% • Attend semi-monthly new study prioritization meetings • Attend Oncore training sessions • Attend Phase I MDG Meeting weekly • Prepare Financial folder for post award staff • Miscellaneous projects as assigned

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; two years’ experience working with federal or private funding agencies on grants, contracts, or other agreements (preferably within an academic or higher education complex), or equivalency; the ability to work effectively and efficiently under extreme pressure; and demonstrated communication and organizational skills required. Eight years of work experience in administration, accounting and/or general office supervision can be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

PREFERENCES: • Familiarity with clinical trial processes and University accounting systems. Will train a motivated, detail-oriented candidate with medical setting or other relevant experience. • Medical billing and coding experience, helpful but not necessary • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field plus four years of experience. Budgeting and spreadsheet (Excel) skills and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relation and effective verbal and written communication skills.
