Description:

Primary Purpose This posting will be used to fill two (2) open positions; one is located in Twin Falls, ID the other is in Burley, ID. The successful candidates will establish, coordinate and conduct activities to inform low-income, first generation persons about available financial aid and post-secondary education opportunities; to assist individuals in selecting, applying for and gaining financial assistance in enrolling in programs of post-secondary education.

Key Responsibilities 1) Recruitment and documentation • Establish the initial contact with community leaders and agencies to promote and establish EOC services in new areas and/or to new groups of potential clients; perform related needs assessments. • Identify clients eligible for EOC services, determine services needed and provide said services. • Carry out direct outreach activities at GED centers, community based organizations, churches, high schools, community meetings and other appropriate settings. • Maintain a network of contacts and resources in the target areas to promote EOC services and activities; act as EOC liaison with professional organizations whose policies impact EOC clients. • Serve as staff in EOC off-site locations and assist persons seeking information about post-secondary programs and services of EOC. • Provide direct advising to persons seeking post-secondary education using a variety of resources; identify appropriate support services as needed. • Assist clients with educational goals clarification; perform academic and vocational assessments.

2) Academic Planning • Provide information to students regarding post-secondary opportunities including admissions, financial aid (FAFSA), scholarships, ACT/SAT/ALEKS testing, and course selection, Internet college searches, scholarship searches. • Assist students in completing applications for admissions, scholarships, and financial aid, preparing and sending applications for admission and scholarships, phone and email communication with college officials and administrators.

3) Additional Duties • Provide follow up of program services to target school personnel. • Coordinate with other TRiO staff to ensure program compliance and success. • Assist with all required reports, particularly the Annual Performance Evaluation for the federal Department of Education. • This position includes night and weekend work.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, must have access to and use of own transportation, demonstrated ability to work effectively with non-traditional potential post-secondary students, college students, and high school seniors.

Preferred Qualifications Work with underrepresented population; knowledge of target area (Twin Falls; Southcentral Idaho); knowledge of recruitment strategies for limited-income and first generation students; experience with state or federal record keeping.
