Do you love working with children and want to make a difference for good? Do you want work where you are valued and part of an amazing team? The Learning Tree is now hiring! We are looking for a few amazing teachers to join our team. Positions may be full time or part time with the right schedule. The Learning Tree, Inc. includes two play based and child directed family child care programs located in Cedar City Utah. We work with wonderful kids and families, focus on relationships, and are looking for the perfect addition to our team!

We are seeking teachers who are passionate about authentic, child led play and who can actively support the children in learning through play. Teachers will act as assistant caregivers for children ages 0-11 in an in home child care program. Most of the time there will be two teachers working together, however there will be times when you need to work independently with a smaller group of children. Duties may include: supervising children, setting up and maintaining play spaces, supporting conflict resolution between children, providing positive guidance, diaper changes, preparing and serving meals and snacks, cleaning, organizing, driving children to and from school, and other tasks as assigned.

Teachers must have a basic understanding of child development, enjoy working with children, be committed to working through challenges, have a good work ethic, have a sense of humor and be motivated to learn and grow as a teacher. The ideal applicant is also a hard worker, efficient, organized, punctual and energetic.

Applicant must be able to relate well to children and adults including other staff members and parents. The applicant must be willing to follow through on requested tasks and pay attention to detail.

Teachers will be scheduled for shifts between 7 am and 6 or 7 pm, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate is flexible, but available at the same time daily. Teachers will also be asked to attend staff meetings usually held in the evenings (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) or on Saturday mornings. Staff meetings are normally held once or twice a month but may be more or less often as needed. Regular training in Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) will be provided.

Teachers may be eligible for a raise after initial training and probationary period.

Qualifications:

Experience with children and/or Early Childhood Education is preferred, although it’s not necessary to have child care experience specifcially. A willingness to learn and participate in training and professional development is a must. Preference may be given to applicants that qualify for a DWS Youth Internship or On-The-Job Training.

Teachers must be able to pass a Background check and have a good driving record. CPR/First Aid certification and Food Handlers training are required, but can be completed after hire. The applicant will be required to pay any applicable fees to obtain and maintain these certifications.
