Description:

Track, record in compliance with GAAP, prepare reconciliations, and create schedules for management for all fixed asset activity. Prepare gaming tax filings and other state and local tax filings (excluding income tax and payroll tax filings) in compliance with state and local laws and record in accordance with GAAP. Team responsibility to meet gaming revenue audit Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to properties and other key stakeholders. Always strives to meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maximize services provided. The accountant is also responsible for ad-hoc tasks required by management including, but not limited to, research, analysis, and reconciliations.

Job Functions

• All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures, state and local laws, and GAAP. • Prepare all tax filings for multiple jurisdictions in accordance with federal, state and local laws, exclusive of income tax returns, and inclusive but not limited to: gaming taxes, sales and use taxes, occupancy taxes and entertainment taxes. • Record entries in the general ledger related to all tax filings prepared. • Track and record all fixed asset activity in accordance with GAAP and company policy, including but not limited to: CIP activity by project, separating project activity into individual assets in subledger, recording depreciation upon placing asset in service, and disposing of assets. • Ensure amounts capitalized and asset classification is in accordance with GAAP and company policy. • Compile and maintain documentation to support asset additions. • Reconcile fixed asset sub-ledger to GL monthly. • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annually fixed asset roll forward schedules and other fixed asset activity reports requested by management. • Perform ad-hoc tasks required by management including, but not limited to, research, analysis, and reconciliations. • Communicate problems or discrepancies to supervisor/management in a timely and efficient manner. • Promote, develop and maintain effective communication, interaction, and excellent relationship with internal customers, including ensuring their requirements are identified and consistently met. • To promote an effective relationship between the department, the operating property, other departments and to ensure effective operational processes. • Perform all functions with the highest level of integrity. • Observe and follow all safety procedures. • Performs all other job related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Job Specifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience. • Solid understanding of GAAP specific to functional areas. • Must have intermediate level skills with Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook, basic office equipment, and 10-key. • Ability to understand change management. • Working knowledge of state specific laws and requirements. • Good written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate ability to resolve all situations in a professional manner. • Excellent customer service skills. Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. • Have initiative, strive for continuous improvement. • Strong team player that has a direct approach and is solution oriented. • Professional appearance and demeanor. • Work varied shifts if needed, including weekends and holidays, particularly during month-end close periods. • Able to effectively communicate and present in English, in both written and oral forms. • Able to obtain/maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses. • Ability to work independently, prioritize based on urgency and work through high volume and stressful time periods. • Extreme attention to detail. PREFERRED: • Previous knowledge and experience with Boyd Gaming Corporation financial systems (Lawson, Stratton Warren). • Previous experience working in a similar casino resort or Financial Shared Services Center setting.
