Directs the operations and strategic planning of faculty affairs, human resources, marketing/communications and central administration for the Department of Internal Medicine supporting University of Utah Health’s goals and mission.

COMPENSATION: $75,900 to $148,100/year. Strong benefit package including tuition reduction program, retirement and health plan options.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Directs the development and implementation of objectives, policies and procedures affecting faculty affairs, human resources, marketing/communications and central administration for Internal Medicine. 2. Provides strategic direction for assigned areas by setting short and long-term goals, estimating budgetary implications, training requirements for staff and planning and implementing special projects and policies. 3. Oversees both faculty and staff compensation reviews and policies to ensure appropriate compensation standards and compliance. 4. Develops strategies consistent with the U of U Health’s continuous quality improvement program regarding all areas of oversight. 5. Oversees all aspects of professional staff management including recruitment, training/development and retention of departmental staff. 6. Ensures customer/employee satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through. 7. Oversees the analysis and determination of appropriate staffing mix to support department, division and faculty needs. 8. Oversees review of competency of professional staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through on-going staff performance evaluation. 9. Oversees marketing and communications plan to facilitate the promotion of new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers. 10. Participates in U of U Health committees to establish patient/customer service and administrative plans and policies. 11. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships. 12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area, or equivalency; eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.

PREFERENCES: Master’s degree in business or healthcare administration. Human resources and/or faculty administration management experience. Management experience in a healthcare setting.
