Description:

An established accounting professional who has proven to be reliable in their accounting abilities and is trusted to perform accounting duties as assigned in support of the School of Dentistry financial operations. Has demonstrated the ability to forecast and budget. Effectively communicate, find solutions, answer questions and overall a very proficient, self-directed accountant. Maintains and reconciles ledgers and accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles. Prepares and analyzes financial information, prepares reports and financial statements based upon derived statistics and analysis performed.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

COMPENSATION: $31,600 to $58,400/year. Strong benefit package including tuition reduction program, generous leave accrual, retirement and health plan options.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintains and reconciles ledgers and accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles. 2. Assists in preparing and assessing budget, revenue, expense, payroll and journal entries, and other accounting procurement documents. 3. Analyzes and monitors budgets and expenditures for compliance with fiscal accountability and reporting requirements. Analyzes and forecasts revenue and expenditure trends. 4. Reconciles balance sheets, cash, general ledger, payroll accounts and supporting journal entries. 5. Assist with post award accounting and administration for externally funded research projects. 6. Reconcile and prepare payroll distributions based on grant requirements. 7. Reviews and reconciles University management reports and maintains a record of PI approvals as verified by the EOR (Evidence of Review) system. 8. Prepares and analyzes financial information, prepares reports and financial statements based on derived statistics and analysis performed. 9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, plus one year related experience or equivalency required. A thorough understanding of general ledger accounting practices, cost analysis and accounting principles, as well as demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills also required.

PREFERENCES: University accounting experience. Budget experience.
