Description:

This position is considered an internship in archaeology education where you will learn how to network with federal and state agencies, Native American tribes, friend groups, private entities, and the university to provide professional development and support to K12 educators throughout the state. You will also be responsible to assist with a number of community outreach events and youth programs, such as Girl Scouts and 4H.

You will find yourself doing a wide range of tasks that include, but are not limited to, the following: - Learning and teaching Project Archaeology curriculum to all ages
- Typing formal letters - Public speaking - Office tasks such as organizing events, running errands, making phone calls, keeping spreadsheets, sending emails, filing, etc. - Set up and take down for events - Leading outdoor learning opportunities - Editing and updating social media and website - Grant writing - Curriculum editing

This internship requires that you are working to advance Project Archaeology’s efforts all 10 hours each week. You will need to be enthusiastic, social, a self-starter, professional, focused, organized, and dedicated to shine in this position. Qualifications:

  • Must be a student at SUU
  • Must be an Anthropology, History, or Education Major
  • Must be able to work independently or with large groups of youth and adults
  • Must be flexible for occasional travel
  • Must be in good physical condition for outdoor excursions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and complete driver training for 15 passenger van
  • Preference given to those that have previously volunteered for Project Archaeology.
    If you have not previously volunteered, you must submit a letter of reference from a previous employer.
