Description:

Provides technical assistance related to the collection, analysis and utilization of pediatric emergency care data to 59 Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program grantees located across the nation. Works directly with grantees to understand their state EMS and hospital systems, and designs, develops and implements appropriate strategies for the collection of data for federally mandated performance measures. Provides assistance and expertise in aggregating and analyzing data, interpreting results, and preparing data for visual display and dissemination. Prepares presentations and speaks at workshops, on site visits, and in other local and national conferences on EMSC-related and other technical topics, utilizing effective techniques in adult learning. Communicates with federal program officers to discuss and coordinate provision of technical assistance and resolve problems that arise.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

COMPENSATION: $47,600 to $79,699 DOE. Strong benefit package including tuition reduction program, generous leave accrual, retirement and health plan options.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Uses standardized methods and tools to assist personnel in each state/territory to collect and analyze data from several thousand emergency medical service agencies and hospitals within multiple states/territories to assess pediatric emergency care capabilities. 2. Ensures that sites collect data according to established protocols to maximize data integrity. Monitors data quality issues to identify and resolve any errors in collected data, and interprets data to identify areas for improvement based on deficiencies. 3. Based on data collected, assists states with audience-specific messaging in development of customized dissemination materials such as fact sheets, PDFs, PowerPoint files, and infographics. 4. Researches content and prepares written and electronic material for presentations at national in-person and online workshops and trainings. Gives presentations at workshops and training sessions as well as invited presentations for trainings at national, regional, and state level meetings. 5. Staffs projects that involve working with representatives from national organizations, federal project officers, subject matter experts, and state EMSC program grantees. 6. In conjunction with federal project officers, participates in site visits to assess needs and provide assistance and support. 7. Assists in research projects to increase the body of knowledge in pediatric emergency care. 8. Provides assistance to EMSC grantees in other areas as needed and as assigned by supervisor and federal project officers.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a bachelor’s degree in related area (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Two to four years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

PREFERENCES: • Master’s Degree in health related field. • Knowledge and application of research methods, survey design and implementation, data visualization, and/or quality improvement science. • Knowledge in Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Medical Services for Children systems, which address a spectrum of care for children and families ranging from prevention through rehabilitation. • Oral and written communications skills.
