Description:

The Manager, Materials Planning and Scheduling is responsible for working in close collaboration with Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain Operations to ensure production capacity. The MPS Manager will report directly to the Plant Director and manage all activities involving chemicals and packaging to meet the Salt Lake production and scheduling needs. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, initiative and the ability to manage a demanding workload.

Responsibilities: • Directs and oversees all material planning and master scheduling processes for each manufacturing departments' needs and the finite scheduling of the Plant. • Leads, plans, and drives work for the Material Planning, Raw Materials and Master Scheduling department. • Optimizes short term and long term production planning, detail scheduling and material replenishment process for maximum utilization of the plant facilities and resources. • Oversees and provides direction for the Plant's raw material unloading operation • Creates systematic solutions for improving operations within Material Planning and Scheduling. • Establishes and maintains good relationships with vendors and suppliers. • Maintains continuous knowledge of changes made to product sizes, formulas, bottle colors and unique components, and assesses the impact on production. • Works in conjunction with the manufacturing operation and supply chain operation to maintain and meet established service levels for production and customer needs. • Analyzes and communicates capacity needs and constraints to various departments. • Manages inter-plant transfers of packaging to support production requirements. • Interfaces with corporate sourcing to bring new products or revisions to products into production including new items, art to print, disco forms, and maintaining part statuses and buyer codes. • Collaborates with various departments to ensure accuracy of inventory levels and BOM. • Interfaces and coordinates with Production Planning, Master Scheduling, Sales and Manufacturing, for a smooth transition of new items, obsolete items, transitional items, and in and out items, etc. • Manages and improves procedures that support department functions and conducts corresponding training. • Charters change and leads cross-functional improvement teams.

Qualifications:

• Position Qualifications: • BS degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management or a related field. MBA is desirable. • 5-10 years of work-related experience (Operations scheduling or Material Planning). • Experience working with Manugistics(JDA) Fulfillment CPP or Master Planning, version 7.2 or better or other similar web-based planning system • Strong ability to build relationships across different functions and facilitate cooperation across various levels of organization. • CPIM, CSCP or other APICS or Six Sigma certification or commensurate certification of processes and best practice methods preferred • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to prioritize and drive work • Knowledge and/or experience in the development of new products. • Experience with indented BOM systems.
