Description:

The Informatics Nurse will support the ambulatory clinical practices of pediatric UUMG subspecialists in implementing and optimizing iCentra (Cener). Implementation is currently scheduled for October 2017. Prior to implementation, this position will assist in preparation including workflow assessment, workforce readiness, training, and other activities. After implementation, this position will support pediatric subspecialists in enhancing workflow and clinical processes to maximize EMR functionality and identify opportunities for EMR optimization. Incumbents in this position are responsible for integrating nursing knowledge and science with computer science and information systems for clinicians using the electronic medical records.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

COMPENSATION: $65,192/year+ DOE. Strong benefit package including tuition reduction program, generous leave accrual, retirement and health plan options.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • During preparation for EMR implementation, supports administrative and clinical teams in identifying and tracking key milestones. Helps ensure teams are well-prepared for go-live. Helps manage/monitor issues and trouble-shooting. • Facilitates the integration of data, information and clinical knowledge to support patient care decision making. • Translates and communicates clinical needs to information technology staff and works to develop appropriate solutions. • Evaluates electronic solutions and develops implementation strategies to optimize software solutions. • Conducts workflow analysis and makes recommendations for change management strategies. • Conducts quality assurance testing prior to solution deployment to ensure functionality is working as designed. • Works with managers and clinicians to develop implementation plans to support the transition to the new work flow. • Provides support to clinicians during training, go-live and after go live to ensure utilization of the solution is correct. • Collaborates with compliance, patient accounting, legal and other departments to communicate and translate details of the electronic record to support the business needs of these areas. • Conducts revenue enhancement activities in conjunction with coders to ensure electronic tools support new compliance rules. Monitors and reports outcomes of activities to hospital leaders. • Works with educators and managers to support and re-enforce staff training. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: • Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above. • Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills. • Ability to integrate nursing knowledge and science with computer science and information systems. • Ability to collaborate with clinicians to develop real time reports that are needed to support clinical decisions. • Ability to develop written education material. • Ability to lead discussions with both small and large groups of people. • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Five years of experience in a relevant setting, with three years’ experience working with electronic health records. Degree or certification in informatics is preferred.

PREFERENCES: • Experience in pediatric clinical care. • Degree or Certification in Informatics.
