ABOUT CINNAMON HILLS: Cinnamon Hills is a residential treatment program for youth ages 12 – 17 whose emotional and behavioral characteristics are impeding their ability to succeed in their current educational setting. Our highly structured environment and well-trained staff work together to ensure student behaviors are under control and the educational environment remains a safe and productive place for learning. This provides each student with the opportunity to engage effectively in the full scope of academic and therapeutic services. Our mission focus is to provide quality educational, therapeutic, and behavior support services for students at risk. Cinnamon Hills is a nonprofit corporation licensed by the Utah Division of Human Services and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Cinnamon Hills is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission functioning as a non-public school and is certificated through the Utah State Office of Education and the California Department of Education. SCHOOL PURPOSE: To provide a positive atmosphere where students may gain a high school education, acquire new talents to become lifelong learners, develop skills necessary to live independently, and become positive contributors to society.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Special Education teacher for students ages 12-17. Plan and provide instruction to students based on core curriculum approved by the state of Utah. Create lesson plans that are individualized to specific student needs. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to monitor IEP records for school district placed students Works with students and the placing school district to develop attainable and measurable IEP goals Prepares for and attends all IEP meetings Reports on goal progress for the Treatment Team Special Education teacher assists in academic cognitive and achievement testing, and provides tutoring services when time allows Special Education teacher may also act as a substitute teacher in a special education classroom if needed. Special Education Coordinator is also responsible to learn and follow the Program Structure and to uphold the rules of the program when in a classroom, testing or tutoring environment Responsible for other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor Degree; with a minimum of a current State of Utah Teaching Certification in Special Education If a teaching position outside of endorsement is sought, approval must be granted by the Utah State Office of Education, and efforts to seek the required endorsement must be pursued assertively EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Teaching experience beyond student teaching is preferred but not mandatory Experience working with at-risk youth is also preferred
