Description:

THIS INTERNSHIP WILL TAKE PLACE AT PIPE SPRING NATIONAL MONUMENT

The position is with the Resource Management Program. It will focus on restoration of vegetation, maintenance of cultural landscapes, and preservation of cultural resources. The tasks and responsibilities for this position may include removal of exotic plant species, irrigation of landscapes, vegetation propagation, historic structure stabilization, view-shed monitoring, data management, and public outreach. Intern may produce living history demonstrations about Native American and settler culture. Intern may also staff the visitor center front desk and collect entrance fees. Start/end dates are flexible.

Academic disciplines and areas of interest related to this position: botany, biology, history, archaeology, hydrology, and data management.

Qualifications:

  1. knowledge of native plants
  2. experience with hand tools
  3. familiarity with power tools
  4. proficiency with digital cameras and computers
  5. and the ability to work independently in an outdoor environment with minimal supervision
