Description:
The Assistant Director assists the Director of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation,by managing the Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH). The Assistant Director advocates for and develops programming responsive to the needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in the State of Utah by engaging stakeholders and consumers in meaningful ways. The Assistant Director is also responsible for programming and daily operations at the Sanderson Community Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing,a satellite office in St. George,the Utah Interpreter Program,and other services such as case management and employment services.
Principal Duties
Develops resources to supplement the social,cultural,and recreational events at the community center and satellite location.
Plans and manages projects and/or programs.
Determines objectives,priorities,and consistency standards throughout the state for division program policy,training,compliance,and integrity.
Serves as an active participant with the division's management team and Department.
Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring,determining workload and delegating assignments,training,monitoring and evaluating performance,and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
Acts as a facilitator in problem solving situations; provides information to those seeking assistance and suggests alternatives/solutions and assists others in solving problems.
Meets and confers with management,users,and contract providers to resolve problems and coordinate services.
Educates Department employees,community members,and stakeholders about issues related to access for the Deaf and hard of hearing community to services.
Develops and monitors budgets including revenues,expenditures and budget projections.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

An advanced ASL rating or better.
A passion for serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
Experience working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Awareness of the needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Leadership experience.
Experience developing,monitoring and managing budgets.
Preference
May be given to applicants with:
A master's degree in a directly related field (i.e. Vocational Rehabilitation,Deaf Studies,Social Work,Public Administration) or equivalent education and experience.
