Description:

Example of Activities the Intern May Participate in: • Assist with Manufacturing Workshops (review drawings for part tolerances, and call outs)

• Liaison with the Manufacturer to close out manufacturing issues

• Run team meetings to review open manufacturing issues

• Review BOM’s

• Work with test engineering to identify test capital and strategy for production and Repair testing

• Help design Manufacturing Fixtuering

• Source prototype fixturing materials

• Review legacy and new designs for cost saving opportunities (Value Engineering)

• Assist the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering AME’s with authoring the Manufacturing Readiness Assessments

• Assist the AME with core tools (Capacity, Cost Reduction, Yield, and Capital Planning)

• Assist with materials planning for New Product Introductions (NPI)

· Assist the Hardware Coordinator with planning for material and prototype assemblies for development

· Assist Planning with demand validation

Candidate will be dropped into existing projects with expectation that they will finish what they start prior to finishing internship. This is an amazing opportunity that can lead to a position within Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Test Engineering, or Operations.

Qualifications:

Desired Skills: • Strong Analytics

• Basic Access Skills (a plus)

• Electronics as a Hobby or core degree i.e. a double major in Electrical / Mechanical

• Pilot (Experimental or Private Pilot)

• Optimistic – can do attitude

• Familiar or prior experience with Lean or Six Sigma

• Familiar with or strong skills with Excel

• Hands on person

• Strong Communicator

• Driven / Results Focused

• Exceptional excel skills (intermediate to advanced)

• Abe to work with limited guidance

• Process minded

Ideal Intern Background: • Mechanical Engineering major with a passion for how things are assembled

• Prior Military experience as an Avionics or Communications repair tech

• Aviation background and passion
