Description:

Primary Purpose The candidate will serve as the College of Business System Administrator and teach Informatics classes as a non-tenure track Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Computer Science.

As part of the required duties, the candidate will have the responsibility of supporting the College of Business computer systems as the Systems Administrator, which includes collaborating with faculty and staff, configuring software applications, analyzing and automating processes, and developing scripts or programs.

Key Responsibilities Teaching duties include:

• Teach Informatics classes as assigned by the Department Chair. • New course development. • Serve on committees. • Provide guidance and advice on the direction of the Informatics and Computer Science Department. • Facilitate with other colleges as an expert in Information Technology, as needed.

System Administrator duties include:

• Maintain the Windows Active Directory system. • Provide end-user support, resolving technical issues and providing technical assistance for College of Business computer systems. • Direct technicians involved in diagnosing system related failures, determining logical solutions and performing system management and maintenance as necessary. • Provide remote support to end users. • Set up new hires with equipment and appropriate access to the college infrastructure. • Maintenance of the College of Business servers, desktops, laptops, and other technology equipment. • Implement, install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot and evaluate existing and new operating systems. • Provide consultation to the administration for new technology purchases, upgrades, and other technology needs. • Facilitate with other colleges’ and central university information technology departments.

Physical Requirements:

• Must have ability to perform essential functions, including sitting, standing, kneeling, crawling. • Must have the ability to sit in for extended periods of time and manage to focus for several hours. • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, or closely related field; or a bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, or closely related field, and current enrollment in a Master’s degree program in the discipline with the intended goal of completing the degree within twenty-four months of hire. Experience serving as a system administrator in an academic environment. Managing other employees.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Informatics or Computer Science. Experience teaching Informatics and/or Computer Science courses at the undergraduate level. Microsoft, Cisco, ISC^2, or other professional certification, five (5) years of experience supporting end users providing technical assistance and resolving technical issues for all commonly used operating systems.
