Primary Purpose
This position will ensure that there is 24/7, 365 coverage of teaching responsibilities and clinical care for the ISU inpatient service and to ensure that the internal medicine component of the residency program fulfills the criteria of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide 20 – 24 weeks of direct patient care
· Responsible for making sure that every single resident clinical interaction with patients in the hospital is supervised and appropriately documented
· Co-responsible for the entire internal medicine clinical curriculum of the residency program
· Work to develop a hospitalist fellowship
· Insure that the residency inpatient service (also known as hospitalist orange team) will coordinate with the red, blue and grey teams of the EmCare professional hospitalist program of PMC.
· Represent the residents in any CLER audit and any ACGME reports on the internal medicine component of the residency program
· Involvement in quality projects, research and scholarly activity
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
M.D. or D.O.
Completed ACGME Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Residency
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Preferred Qualifications
ICU experience with over 50 patient encounters
Inpatient experience with over 1,000 patient encounters
