Description:

Primary Purpose This position will support the University Counseling and Testing Service in meeting the mental health needs of the Idaho State University community. They will work to improve student well-being, provide training for faculty and staff, and assist students in working toward their personal and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities include provision of individual, couple, and group counseling; consultation with students, staff, faculty, and other Student Affairs offices; development and implementation of education and prevention programs; provision of daytime emergency and triage services; supervision of Masters and Doctoral level trainees; and service on Student Affairs and other University committees. There are opportunities for staff to specialize in areas of their professional interests consistent with the UCTS mission and goals; for example: biofeedback, mindfulness, diversity, international students, etc.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program, or doctorate in a related field from an accredited program (e.g. Counselor Education). Dissertation defense must be scheduled to occur no later than July 31st, 2018. This will be confirmed prior to the offer of an on-site interview. Licensed or license eligible in Idaho within one year of hire. Strong clinical skills and commitment to clinical work. Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills. Evidence of collaboration and flexibility in working with others. Multicultural commitment/advocacy.

Preferred Qualifications Supervised experience in a University Counseling Center. Outreach and group counseling experience. Mental health crisis intervention experience. Experience in clinical supervision of practicum students. Experience and/or strong interest in one or more of the following areas: DBT, trauma treatment, international students; LGBTQA students; eating/body image issues; couple counseling; biofeedback; substance abuse; mindfulness.
