About Job:
We are looking for a new member to join our systems administration group, as a
Linux Systems Administrator, you will be administering and managing Linux
systems.
The System Administrator is responsible for the planning, design,
implementation, securing, administration, organization, documentation,
maintenance and support of new and existing highly available application and
web infrastructures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
• Good knowledge in Unix Server and Unix OS.
• Understanding of UNIX/Linux Operating Systems - Red Hat, Solaris, AIX,
Oracle Linux.
• Files systems – EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, IBM JFS, GFS, NFS, XFS, IBM TIVOLI
SANergy, HDFS.
• UNIX kernel admin/tune.
• Hand-On experience of Anti-Virus for Linux such as Sophos, Comodo, F-PROT,
Rootkit Hunter, E-SET, Panda, Avast
Unix Administrator is responsible for the following tasks :
• Installation, configuration and tuning of Unix application servers.
• Troubleshoot virtual environments using UNIX emanating from hardware and
software related and configuration issues.
• Work with network administrators to configure and troubleshoot issues
emanating from network.
• Write shell & pearl scripts to automate, manage and monitor the
applications and the environment on the Unix servers.
• Monitors the operational standards and procedures for the UNIX based
systems.
• Apply security related patches to applicable applications & environments
• Manage Tape Backup system in accordance with policies and set schedule
• Manage DNS & SMTP
• Performance management and tuning of UNIX operating systems as used by the
applications
Performance Objectives/Job Duties :
• Maintains UNIX/Linux Operating System to provide optimum performance and
system availability.
• Supports software vendor to ensure application software is installed
correctly and all current maintenance levels have been applied.
• Creates and maintains environment for running batch jobs associated with
daily batch cycle and batch reporting subsystem.
• Works with LAN personnel to ensure compatibility with LAN applications and
peripheral hardware to provide end users with reliable and stable working
environment.
• Supports and maintains other vendor database software installed on the LAN
servers.
