We are seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer who is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing test plans, test system hardware and software, troubleshooting the product at the system and board level, and data mining for yield improvement.

This position will work cross functionally to develop test solutions, troubleshoot problems and provide root cause analysis in addition to working directly with suppliers to develop test protocols. Test development will include responsibility for documentation and training of production operators.

A key responsibility for this position is daily support of the production lines. The Manufacturing Test Engineer may also travel for support of customer installs, and will be required to be on-call occasionally. This position will begin on the day shift, but may move to the swing shift schedule at some future date.

What You’ll Do :

  • Provide direct line support for the testing and troubleshooting of test systems and products in production
  • Develop, implement and maintain manufacturing processes and process controls for new and existing display products
  • Provide estimates of design hours, manufacturing costs, and determine time standards for proposed solutions
  • Interface cross functionally to define and develop testing requirements, strategies and plans for new products as part of the NPI process
  • Source, configure and install electronics, cabling, and software to drive a variety of displays in support of production
  • Develop and support test code to automate test protocols
  • Work collaboratively to determine best methods to package test devices for production
  • Execute test programs to validate that products meet or exceed specifications and performance criteria
  • Train production personnel to ensure that proper test coverage is followed
  • Define product test associations to capture and update data collection fields in system for proper data mining
  • Provide sustaining support and technical guidance as required, including field failure analysis and troubleshooting guidance to the Service & Support team. Transfer the resulting knowledge acquired into improved testing processes
  • Prepare and implement product process changes via an engineering change control system
  • Prepare change control justification with supporting data
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multiple project team environment
  • Perform other Engineering related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Occasionally lead Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) teams to resolve complex problems on time
  • Develop and sustain product life tests for ongoing reliability testing
  • Participate in job hazard analysis in regards related to electronics
  • Occasional travel to support customer installations
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to maintain acceptable standards of office conduct
  • Ability to come to work demonstrating timely and regular attendance

*What You’ll Need* :

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability and experience troubleshooting board level assemblies to the component level, including diagnosing solder defects
  • Demonstrated ability and experience writing test work instructions and using engineering change systems to promote documents
  • Demonstrated ability to develop functional test systems used in house or at suppliers
  • Working knowledge of software programming and scripting including C or C#, Visual Basic, Labwindow/ Labview, Batch, VBscript, and Perl to develop test and data collection systems needed for testing products/assemblies in production environments required
  • Experience with communication protocols such as: I2C, SPI, RS232, etc.
  • Knowledge of video industry standards (i.e. DVI, HDMI, Analog RGB, DisplayPort, etc.)
  • Experience with reviewing new and existing designs for ease of manufacturability/testability
  • Experience working with display technologies a plus
  • Ability to develop a thorough and detailed documented paper trail of all fixtures, test plans, and product test data
  • Ability to use electronic theory and knowledge to resolve technical problems

What You’ll Need to Bring :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 2-5 years in a test engineering or related position

  • Evening meetings
  • On-call status
  • Working with others in a team setting

Normal working hours may be7:30am – 4:30pm (day shift), or 2:30pm-11pm (swing shift)
