Position: Entry Level **** Facilities Technician


Reports To: Vice President of Operations ****


Position Summary:

The Facilities Technician plays a crucial role in attaining the goal of a “world Class Aquarium”. This is a full-time, entry-level position. The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium needs to be attractive, well-maintained and fully functional for all guests to enjoy. This position is responsible for assisting with general building maintenance for the facility, including maintaining, repairing and servicing the front of the house, common areas, exhibits, and back of the house areas for the benefit of any and all occupants and or guests.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assist with maintenance of the facility, including building, vehicles/equipment and grounds.

·         Assist with landscaping and snow removal.

·         Assist with exhibit installation and other general maintenance.

·         Assist with drywall and/or painting needs.

·         Assist with general carpentry needs.

·         Ability to understand instructions and concepts in 3-D in order to help in the construction of projects.

·         Adhere to all safety protocols.

·         Other duties as assigned.


Education :

·         A High School Diploma or GED required.

·         Trade Certificates or relevant post-secondary degree or coursework preferred.


Critical Skills/Competencies:

Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Skills in vehicles, carpentry and other like skills with building and grounds maintenance. Experience and knowledge in building maintenance and repair. Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude to learn painting and general equipment necessary to maintain and repair exhibits and strength and endurance to perform physical demands of essential job functions with or without accommodation. Must possess a high-energy work ethic, attention to detail and a positive attitude.


Physical Demands of the Job:

This job requires extended periods of standing, heavy lifting up to 80 lbs., working on ladders and in slippery wet conditions and the use of multiple varieties of equipment and power tools.

Scope of position:
Able to use and handle all manner of hand tools and power tools to build, install, maintain or repair any necessary items both inside and outside the facility.


Special Working Conditions:

Job will primarily be in a workshop environment. Must be comfortable working around water, salt, power tools, and animals. The overall work environment while performing this job includes exposure to weather conditions and the noise level is usually moderate.  Periodic evening work is expected as well as some holidays and weekends.
