Who we are:

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is an independent national nonprofit whose scientists and engineers work to solve some of our planet’s most pressing environmental and safety problems. UCS combines technical analysis and effective organizing and advocacy to create innovative, practical solutions for stemming the tide of global warming, sustainable food policy and agriculture, energy and transportation, fighting misinformation and reducing the threat of catastrophic nuclear war.

What you’ll do:

· Manage our busy Washington DC office, supporting our 80 staff and interns, ensuring that staff have what they need to do our essential work

· Oversee security, administrative services, reception, and facilities management

· Manage front desk staff and vendor relationships

· Ensure video conferencing works correctly; oversee the IT and tech support

· Create and carefully manage the Washington, DC office budget

What we need to see on your resume:

· Five to seven years’ experience managing offices, with demonstrated supervision and administrative leadership skills

· Evidence of a thorough knowledge of office management procedures, including word processing; database and spreadsheet software; purchasing; business English; office equipment maintenance; and file maintenance.

· Experience in space planning and renovation management

· primary project management, staff/volunteer management, and some budget management skills are needed.

· Knowledge of basic PC support skills, Internet, email, and basic network maintenance skills

Compensation, Hours and Location: This is a full-time position based in UCS’s Washington, DC office. For those who meet all position requirements, the salary is around $58,500.
