Description:
- The College Connections program is seeking approximately 6 Peer Academic Coaches for the Fall 2018 semester to support cohorts of
approximately 25 first-year students. In addition to meeting with students during bi-weekly 30-minute appointments, coaches serve as teaching
assistants for UNIV 1050: College Student Success. Coaches assist students as they develop and strengthen skills that promote resilience,
confidence, and self-directed learning.
Such skills include…
- Clarifying academic goals and practical steps towards these goals
- Building motivation, self-confidence, and accountability,
- Implementing routines for organization and time management,
- Strengthening study skills (i.e. reading comprehension, note-taking, review, and test-taking strategies),
- Accessing resources, and
- Adapting to new challenges.

Qualifications:
- Sophomore status or higher
- 3.25 GPA or higher
- Full-time student at SUU
- FERPA training and certification required upon hire
- Secondary Education majors desired
