Description:

Location: Pipe Spring National Monument, Fredonia, AZ Description: The position works with the Resource Management Program and will focus on vegetation management efforts including native restoration, invasive species control, seed collection, and herbarium work. Build skills in plant identification, dryland restoration techniques, herbarium collection, and water conservation. This position will assist in ongoing restoration efforts, but can also develop an individual project to test new techniques and build leadership skills. Help protect the monument’s natural resources for future generations and preserve the rich cultural history of the area. Multiple opportunities for the right candidate to research, design, and implement their own project- then track the impacts through the field season. Come make a difference and build a marketable set of real-world skills to carry you forward.

Work Schedule: May-September (summer season); up to 40 hours/week; some projects may be extended into the fall on a part-time basis

Housing: Park housing may be available at a cost of $350-$400/month

Qualifications:

The candidate will ideally have strong writing ability, attention to detail, proficiency with Microsoft programs, ability to work independently and as part of a team, positive attitude, and excellent time management skills. Candidates with an interest in botany, biology, ecology, environmental science, resource management, horticulture, water conservation, or historic landscape management are encouraged to apply. ALL IIC INTERNSHIPS ARE REQUIRED TO BE TIED TO THE EARNING OF AN ACADEMIC CREDIT. Credits can be EDGE projects, departmental internships, cooperative education, practicums, assignments, research, etc.
