Description:
Tutors for the Rural Health Scholars (RHS) Program provide one-on-one tutoring services to students who are members of the RHS Program.
The tutoring is offered free of charge to RHS students and tutors are paid $10/hour. Based on past courses and qualifications, tutors may tutor a few to several different subjects, including general chemistry, general biology, physics, organic chemistry, calculus, ecology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, genetics, histology, nutrition, psychology, sociology, and trigonometry. For the course, students must have taken it at SUU, gotten a B+ or better, and enjoy teaching the subject.
Each tutor is required to schedule tutoring sessions individually with those RHS members requesting services. Therefore, tutors must be organized and quick to respond to student inquiries via phone or email. Each tutor must report to the RHS office weekly how many hours he/she spent on tutoring, for which students, and what subject(s).
Tutors are expected to be model students of the RHS program, including a dedication to health careers, a focus on academics, and a professional demeanor.
Qualifications:
Tutors must be members of the Rural Health Scholars Program and must have already taken and received a B+ or better in the subject they will be tutoring. Tutors must be current or recent full-time students at the institution.
