Description:
The Mental Health Lead Peer will focus on promoting and nurturing the mental well-being of SUU students. They will be highly trained individuals that hold consultations with their SUU peers to address issues such as anxiety, depression, stress management, grief & loss, and suicidality. They will serve as a bridge to SUU Counseling and Psychological Services. The Mental Health Lead Peer will offer a non-judgmental space to talk. They are here to listen and desire to make a positive difference in the lives of SUU students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend all trainings/meetings to teach peer education programs
- Practice teaching the assigned mental health education program
- Present mental health education programs to campus and student groups in the
classroom and as a speaker to clubs or other on campus groups
- Speak to classrooms about services offered in Health Services
- Participate in other health and wellness programs
- Be committed to the program for at least 2 semesters
- Network with professors/instructors and other campus groups to create opportunities
for presenting the mental health education programs.
- Maintain confidentiality where needed
- Be a resource
- Establish and participate in the Peer Health Education (PHE) weekly meetings
- Recruit 1-2 peer educators into the program for the following year
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Interest in mental health
- Good oral communication skills
- Flexible schedule. Able to work occasional evenings.
- Able to work independently and in groups
- Willing to work in a collaborative environment
- Not afraid to ask questions
