THIS INTERNSHIP IS BASED AT PIPE SPRING NATIONAL MONUMENT

The intern will work under the supervision of craftsmen in the Maintenance Department and perform a variety of maintenance related tasks. Duties include assisting in historic preservation projects and carpentry projects such as the repair and repainting of historic structures, wagons, fences, and other cultural landscape features; grounds maintenance (mowing grass, pruning, trimming, raking and weeding); livestock care (feeding, cleaning corrals and chicken coop); and assisting in minor repairs to utility systems and public buildings. Internships will also include introduction to computer-based maintenance management systems. Most work will be performed outside in a range of temperatures and weather conditions. May be required to lift 50-100lbs. Learning how to properly document all aspects of each task for the historic archives.

Government onsite Housing Quarters will be available at the single room rate during the Internship.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be interested in learning how to care for various aspects of the Monument through hands-on, mind-on projects; be able to work on tasks independently and as part of a team; and work in outdoor and indoor settling throughout the winter months.
