Description:

For this tutor position, we are looking for someone who can be a mentor to student athletes who are going through lower division or general education classes. The position is designed for the athletes to have someone to be accountable to instead of someone to teach them the information. They will need to be able to walk the student through general education classes, how to use canvas, submitting assignments, and time management or planning in general. Often the tutor will be meeting with the same students multiple times throughout the semester and may be dealing with students are required by the coach or academics to be there. The position will be a combination of regular walk-in hours and scheduling appointments one-on-one with students.

Qualifications:

Patience is by far the most important quality. Any applications will need to show examples of being patient and keeping calm in stressful situations. Dependability and punctuality. The tutor will be relied upon by administration to be the connection to the athletes day-to-day study. Concise tutoring skills. They need to be able to move through the assignments slowly and explain the process in a way that everyone can understand or be able to adapt their tutoring style according to the student's needs. Tutor must have above a 3.5 GPA, be a full-time student in good standing with the university, and have completed at least one year of college. During that time, they need to have done various gen ed classes such as: CSIS 1000, LM 1010, ENGL 1010, etc. Please submit a resume and cover letter that emphasizes relevant experiences.
