This position will provide flight training of unmanned aircraft systems to students enrolled in unmanned aircraft courses at SUU. Instructors will provide one-on-one student training using both simulators and small unmanned aircraft systems. Due to Federal Aviation Administration regulations, each unmanned aircraft instructor must possess a current Remote Pilot Certificate. Those without Remote Pilot Certificates need not apply.

Flight and simulator training will occur on campus, at the Three Peaks Model Port, and various other locations around Cedar City and the surrounding region. Instructors must pay for, and provide their own transportation to and from any training locations unless different arrangements are made prior to any specific training mission.

Unmanned Aircraft Flight Instructors will work closely with unmanned aircraft course instructors and the Associate Chair of the Aviation Sciences Department. They will follow training curriculum for unmanned aircraft as specified by SUU or may develop and execute their own curriculum as may be approved by the course instructor or the Associate Chair of the Aviation Sciences Department. Instructors will be expected to follow all safety and operational procedures of the university and the Department of Aviation Sciences during their instruction of SUU students. This will be a sporadic, part-time job not to exceed 20 hours per week. Instructional hours may vary from week-to-week depending on course needs, weather, and other unpredictable circumstances. Instructors will be expected to establish a fixed, weekly training schedule with their students as the training curriculum may require and will make themselves available during those times assuming weather and other unpredictable circumstances allow. Instructors will only be paid for instructional hours actually worked with students.
