Overview:
The realty/non-renewable resource division of the BLM Kanab Field Office is responsible for the administration mineral, filming, and rights of way permits. The diversity of resources and issues surrounding theses resources provide many opportunities for interdisciplinary and inter-agency projects. This internship may require weekend work, overnight camping, or travel. Must provide own living quarters. Duty stations are in rural communities with limited services available.
Position Responsibilities:
- Monitor, assess, record, and report changes in BLM community mineral pits
- Monitor, assess, record, and report activities and/or changes on realty actions, such as rights of ways and filming permits
- Recording information into BLM record collection systems
Qualifications:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in an outdoor setting
- Able to utilize digital camera to take clear relevant photos
- Mineral Identification skills
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Use Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (Training provided)
- Must be able to navigate backcountry areas utilizing map longitude and latitude coordinates
- Comfortable driving 4X4 vehicle on dirt and clay roads
