Schedule: variable (Monday - Friday), some night work

Overview:

The selected individual will assist Forest Service wildlife biologists with surveys of wildlife and rare plant species located on the North Kaibab Ranger District. Housing is available for ~$5.50/night.

Position Responsibilities:

Monitored species include northern goshawk, Kaibab squirrel, Mexican spotted owl and Kaibab pincushion cactus. The intern will also assist with rehabilitation and maintenance work on wildlife water catchments and protective fencing around natural springs and ponds. Additional opportunities may include working with other NKRD programs such as archeology, recreation and range.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Comfortable driving 4x4 truck and UTV
  • Education and/or experience with wildlife identification and monitoring preferred, but not required.
