Schedule: Generally will be on a 4/10, 40 hours a week schedule. Monday thru Thursday, 10 hour days. Occasionally, may have to adjust schedule to assist on Friday.

Overview:
This position will assist the District wildlife biologist with monitoring and surveying Forest sensitive and management indicator species on the Pine Valley and Cedar City Ranger Districts. This position involves hiking long distances in rough terrain. Four wheel drive vehicles and ATV’s will be necessary to access project areas and training will be provided. The position also involves the use of a GPS and other small equipment; however, training will be provided for all equipment and monitoring/survey techniques. Housing is not available.
Position Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
The position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to manage assigned tasks independently, the ability to hike and sample over difficult terrain and under a variety of weather conditions and the willingness to work long hours when necessary. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and/or certifications in any or all of the following areas: leadership, decision-making and reliability, wildlife identification and surveying methods (especially avian species), operation of a 4WD vehicle, ATV use, trailer use, GPS use, MS Excel, data entry/database and maintenance experience.
