The COMPASS program is seeking Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) to support cohorts of approximately 25 first-year students who are provisionally admitted. In addition to meeting with students during bi-weekly 30-minute appointments, coaches serve as teaching assistants for UNIV 1050: College Student Success. https://www.suu.edu/academicsuccess/compass/
The Academic Recovery program is seeking Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) to support cohorts of approximately 20-30 students on Academic Probation. In addition to meeting with students during individual and/or small group coaching sessions, PACs serve as teaching assistants for UNIV 1020: P2 Academic Recovery. https://www.suu.edu/academicsuccess/academicrecovery/
Coaches assist students as they develop and strengthen skills that promote resilience, confidence, and self-directed learning. Such skills include…
- Clarifying academic goals and practical steps towards achieving these goals
- Building motivation, self-confidence, and accountability,
- Implementing routines for organization and time management,
- Strengthening study skills (i.e. reading comprehension, note-taking, review, and test-taking strategies),
- Accessing resources, and
- Adapting to new challenges.

Qualifications:
Sophomore status or higher
3.25 GPA or higher
Full-time student at SUU
Minimum of one semester completed at SUU prior to Summer 2019
FERPA training and certification required upon hire
Summer training (starting August 19) required
Secondary Education majors desired
