Overview:
Intern will work with NPS staff in collaboration with DSU Park Data project to collect visitor use and transportation data in Cedar Breaks National Monument in order to implement the park’s new visitor sensor technologies. Housing is not available for this position.
Position Responsibilities:
Primary duties will entail installing, monitoring, and downloading data from traffic counters; field-based data collection along park trails, at viewpoints, at parking lots, and along park roads; and some data analysis and reporting.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
The ability to work well in a team setting.
Capable of working independently on assignments with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in typing and computer usage.
Programming and database experience preferred
Willing to spend extended periods of time in the field and comfortable in outdoor environments with limited cell phone service.
Capable of hiking across uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions carrying a field pack, water, and personal supplies.
Capable of field trip planning, logistics, and risk management.
Valid driver’s license.
