Description:

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide information to students and determine student qualification for SSS program.
  2. Offer guidance and support for prospective SSS students through the application process ensuring necessary information is communicated and completed for acceptance by the Director.
  3. Track and follow up with each applicant to ensure completion of applications.
  4. Assist students from diverse backgrounds in accessing University resources and opportunities, and developing success plans.
  5. Assist the Director in the development of new programs, including scholarship programs.
  6. Document mentoring sessions and develop practices and procedures for following up with students and maintaining engagement.
  7. Help organize the Student Support Center events.
  8. Work with the SSS staff and the director of the Student Support Center to assist SSS students in all academic/personal needs.
  9. Assist with grant writing, as needed.
  10. Making travel and lodging arrangements for the Student Support Center.
  11. Arranging all Student Support Center events.
  12. Assembling an invitation list for each of the events.
  13. Assembling a list of each cohort of SSS students.
  14. Tracking the SSS courses.
  15. Assisting the SSS staff with any needs.
  16. Coordinating publicity for the events.
  17. Working with organizations across campus.
  18. Updating the website.
  19. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current student at SUU
  • At least 60 credits preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic, career and advising principles and practices
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, customer service, communication and time management skills with ability to pay attention to details and follow-through
  • Ability to teach individuals and small group instruction
  • Successful experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds, including educational, socioeconomic, culturally ethnic, and physical and/or learning disabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Software skills including Word, Excel, Access, and student database systems.
