Description:

The Scientific Art Assistant will illustrate scientific concepts on exhibits related to science, geology, paleontology, biology, archaeology, botany, and other areas as needed. This position is supervised by Dr. Jacqualine Grant in the Garth and Jerri Frehner Museum of Natural History.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will be able to translate scientific concepts into visual form with assistance from science faculty. The Scientific Art Assistant should be able to illustrate by hand (pen, ink, paint, pencil) and combine work with digital media using programs such as In Design or Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. Candidate will be able to meet weekly with faculty mentor(s), but should also be able to carry out work independently. Candidates must be responsible, independent, and punctual. Art majors and minors preferred, but other majors with artistic portfolios will be considered.
