Description:

Challenge yourself as a member of a 5-7 person high-school aged (15 – 18 years old) crew while conducting career-oriented work in relation to Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation in some of the most beautiful places in Southern Utah.

As a crew member, you will be participating with a summer crew on a variety of projects at several Southern Utah and Arizona public land agencies, such as the National Park Service, National Forest Service, and the BLM. Crew work will be exciting, dynamic, and intensive. It will provide each member with an opportunity to work in a rugged outdoor environment. Crews will be working on trail maintenance, recreation site development, and other related projects. Crew members must be at least 15 and have outdoor experience, a positive attitude, maturity, and flexibility.

Working Conditions: Up to 10-hour days and travel outdoors in hot and dry environments and cold and wet high elevation environments. Walking long distances over uneven terrain, standing, bending and lifting. Operating hand and gas operated tools, and motorized vehicles, 4x4 at times, for long periods of time. work with hand tools, motorized tools and pesticides.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 15-18 years old
  • Desire to learn about public lands
  • Desire to work outdoors
  • Provide a positive attitude
  • Follow direction from Crew Leader and Mentor
  • Complete projects within the expected time frame

Priority will be given to individuals with prior crew experience or prior outdoor experience.
