Description:
The Challenge Course Student Manager is responsible for managing the SUU Challenge Course (low ropes course). This employee must be able to work both spring and summer of 2020. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise protocols, operation, qualifications, and certifications of 5-8 student staff.
- Enforce all safety guidelines, rules, policies, and procedures of the SUU Challenge Course.
- Monitor check-out and return of challenge course equipment, as well as, maintain inventory.
- Collaborate with SUU Outdoors administrators for purchasing.
- Assist with staff scheduling, including summer and breaks.
- Assist in leading new employee orientation, in-service meetings, and other trainings.
- Assist with instruction, lesson design, and implementation with Challenge Course staff.
- Maintenance, inspection, and documentation of Challenge Course equipment and facility.
- Oversee the marketing of Challenge Course programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills as the relate to marketing and coordination of groups (i.e. email, program development technical writing, interpersonal communication skills).
- At least one year of experience working as a facilitator on a high or low ropes course.
- One year of experience supervising and training others.
- Demonstrated commitment to student development and diversity and inclusion through programming, mentoring, or training.
- A working knowledge of health and safety standards of challenge course programs, including knowledge of Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) standards.
- First Aid & CPR Certification.
