Description:

The microbiology intern will be under general supervision by the microbiology faculty and will provide instructional support by performing technical work in the microbiology laboratory including maintenance of microbial cultures, media preparation, inoculations of plates, slants and broths, performing scheduled cleaning and testing of the autoclave and student microscopes, and supervising the activities of teaching assistants.

Qualifications:

Successful completion of a majors General Microbiology laboratory course (e.g. BIOL 3015) and demonstrated mastery of aseptic technique and basic staining, microbiological assay, and molecular biology techniques.

This position is available for the period of 27 April to 11 September 2020; the start date is flexible, but the successful applicant must be able to start no later than 11 May 2020.

As per Summer Internships requirements, the successful applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits in face-to-face instruction during the Summer 2020 semester; if enrollment drops below 3 credits or if the student withdraws from their face-to-face course, the funding for this position may be terminated.
