Description:
This position is an internship for undergraduate mathematics students at SUU interested in conducting research in the mathematical sciences. The research assistant (RA) will work with and be mentored by Dr. Andrew Misseldine and will research a topic in algebraic combinatorics assigned by the mentor. This research will involve learning about background material, literature review, computation, computer programming, and mathematical writing. This is a seven week position, where the RA is expected to work 20 hours per week during the second session of the summer semester (24 June - 7 August). The RA is expected to meet regularly with the mentor throughout the duration of the position with the remaining hour flexible. Required qualifications: a current SUU mathematics major whose has passed Math 3130. Preferred qualifications: background in abstract algebra (groups, rings, fields), programming experience, LaTeX experience.
