Description:
Responsible for assisting with video documentary pre-production and research. The SUU Communication department is producing a documentary on Grace Tanner, a prominent and influential Utah woman who lived from 1906 to 2005. The student researcher will identify and contact possible interviewees, identify important video to record, and identify and collect archive photographs and video recordings. The student must be a self-starter with great command of the English language in order to read and process archive material. Student research will work with the SUTV station manager and communication faculty on the pre-production aspects of the documentary. May do some production. Must be proficient in shooting and editing video. Must be available starting April 27, 2020 and can work through September 11, 2020.
Qualifications:
Experience with cameras or video equipment, and editing skills are required. Ability to read, research, comprehend and summarize written material. Willing to do short travel. May require a trip or several trips to Salt Lake City to access archive material. Preference given to those who have completed, or are taking COMM 2200, COMM 3504 and COMM 4760. Must be registered for a minimum of 3 face-to-face credits in summer.
