Description:
This paid intern position will be primarily responsible for assisting as a sports performance coach for olympic sports at Southern Utah University. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with set up and break down for daily training, assisting with pre-practice/practice duties, meal checks, routine maintenance/cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of academic requirements. This is a hands on intern position which you will have to coach and learn how to manage athletes on a daily basis. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic and enrolled in class at Southern Utah University in exercise science or related course of study. Other preferred qualifications include previous experience involved in a collegiate sport and completion of either CSCS or CSCCa.
This position may be used as a summer internship with approval from a faculty sponsor in accordance with SUU Policy 6.3
Qualifications:
Interns will be required to be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits in face-to-face courses. Online courses will not count.
Desired attributes include outstanding organizational and computer skills, great work ethic and professionalism. Previous coaching and/or playing experience is a plus. Verbal communication skills with diverse populations is a must.
This internship is only for undergraduate students. Graduate students are not eligible for this positions.
If a student desires to earn internship credit for their summer work, they will need to find a faculty sponsor who can assist them in accordance with Policy 6.3.
