Description:

The Advancement & Enrollment Management Department is seeking a student employee for the Online Organic Social Media Assistant Student Worker position. They would be a significant ambassador of Southern Utah University that is responsible for assisting with running the department's organic social media channels. The social media assistant will assist in advancing the growth of SUU's online and graduate programs.

Much of the assistant's time will be spent creating social media strategy, developing and pitching social media plans and campaigns, executing approved campaigns, creating new content and engagement opportunities, and responding to potential students on our social media channels. The Social Media Assistant will also assist with copywriting blog articles, landing pages, and mass emails as required. The position requires a proactive approach, a passion for social media, and a love for SUU. Previous social media experience is beneficial. In order to properly achieve results, it is required that the Social Media Assistant work at least 20 hours a week during the academic year and 32-40 hours a week during the summer semester.

Assistants should be highly motivated, have a professional demeanor, and have strong communication skills when interacting with potential students, staff, faculty, and administration; they should be inclined to work with a high level of engagement in a professional office.

Qualifications:

  • Hold the university in great esteem.
  • Know the benefits of higher education on employment and personal achievement.
  • Social Media Management experience managing Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter accounts for businesses preferred.
  • Personal presence on various social media platforms
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Portfolio of successful social media content
  • Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to accurately and ethically convey university information as described above.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and perform tasks independently.
  • Must be student-oriented and have the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
