Description:
We are seeking up to 7 research assistants to work on a project in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management, to assess the effects of management practices on the reproduction and movements of pinyon jays. Duties will include assisting with point-counts to find pinyon jays, nest-searching and monitoring, camera trap deployment and image analysis, vegetation sampling, and assisting with mist-netting and banding birds. The job will entail working outdoors in all kinds of weather, walking variable distances, and driving on back country roads (transportation will be provided).
The start date is March 1, 2021, and assistants will be required to work during Spring Break and Saturdays (and other hours during the week only if they are able/willing) for 12 weeks, for up to 20 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in ecological field methods. A CV and cover letter outlining such experience should be included in the application. Please include a list of three references and contact information for them.
