Description:

The TRiO Student Support Service program serves 160 First Generation, Low Income, Disabled students. SSS academic tutors are responsible for tutoring students who enter the lab. Tutors will work closely with SSS coordinators and mentors. Tutors will work 10-20 hours per week on a flexible schedule. Tutors are part of a collaborative team and will be asked to attend a bi-monthly team meeting scheduled around the teams schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Must have skills in at least one General Education area (Multiple areas preferred)
  • Understanding and ability to work closely with students enrolled in the SSS program.
  • Ability to be a positive role model for SSS students.
  • Ability to show empathy and patience to students while working with them.
  • Ability to advocate for fellow students as a team player.
  • Ability to work diligently at challenging tasks.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with limited direction and a lot of creativity. • Will model appropriate student behavior and understanding. • Experience working with, or a desire to learn how to work with persons with disabilities. • Firm knowledge of SUU’s services, organizations, and clubs. • Actively engaged in SUU’s activities, events, and other opportunities.
