Description:

As an essential member of the Institutional Advancement team, the Leadership Engagement Giving Officer (LEGO) is a student fundraising professional that will receive training for and be responsible for the management of a pool of 200-250 prospects, comprising alumni, parents and friends, with giving potential of $500-$4,999.

LEGOs work to build and enhance relationships with all constituents for the purpose of increasing financial support of SUU. This position plays a key role in strengthening opportunities for constituents to become engaged as donors.

The Leadership Engagement Giving Officer will be responsible for the following:

Generate revenue for SUU’s funding needs and priorities

Expand the base of annual leadership prospects and donors

Identify and align giving opportunities based on university need and donor interest Make outbound calls, sending emails, writing personal notes to prospective donors and alumni to further engage donors and donor participation Serve as an ambassador by establishing an open and engaging line of communication between SUU and its supporters Develop and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective donors in order to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 200 current and prospective donors including qualification of new prospects, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. Relationships are developed around donor interests and University priorities Work with Institutional Advancement team to ensure appropriate coordination and communication Work with members of the Institutional Advancement team to determine strategies and action steps needed to identify and develop leadership and major gift donors. Develop and execute engagement plans and strategies Monitor and track performance goals for themselves and team members Maintain data integrity by clear and accurate typing and attention to detail Document all activity and update contact information in the advancement database Record contact reports of all donor interactions Participate in events on and off campus having a strategic impact on the success of the major gifts and annual giving programs and individual prospect relationships Work with advancement staff to transition prospects into major gift portfolios. Complete the 15 week LEGO Building training course.

Qualifications:

Must be able to speak the English language in a very clear and understandable manner over phone, text, and email. Strong work ethic and attendance Demonstrate an ability to work well individual and in a team setting Handle all forms of information with extreme confidentiality Keep informed about the university Current SUU student (undergraduate or graduate candidate) Must be able to think strategically and creatively Operate in an organized manner Be goal and achievement oriented Communicate exceptionally well orally and in writing and willing to communicate with prospective donors Manage situations diplomatically A positive attitude Flexible, dedicated, and results oriented Commit to a minimum of 12 hours/week Work evenings

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experiences with annual giving, prospect research, sales, and/or donor stewardship Passionate about fundraising or sales
