Description:
The College of Engineering & Computational Sciences is seeking a current SUU student to assist in analyzing and interpreting numerical recruitment and retention data to enable informed planning and decision-making for the college's 5 Year Plan. This student will gather data, apply statistical and analytical techniques to data, and identify trends based on the results of their calculations and projections. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in data, statistics, and analytics.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Math 1040 Statistical Inference required
- FERPA and CITI certification required - certifications may be obtained after hiring
- Successful completion of Math 3700 Probability and Statistics preferred
- Ability to summarize and interpret data, evaluate important assumptions, and draw appropriate conclusions based on data sets
- Experience with descriptive statistics, statistical graphs, probability, discrete and continuous probability distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests with one and two samples, correlation and regression, chi-square tests and one-way ANOVA
- Pro-active, self-starter with an interest in data analysis
- Able to work in a team setting as well as independently
- Detail-oriented with a drive toward accuracy
- Effective written and spoken communication abilities, especially regarding statistical results and research details
- Able to positively respond to requests for further information, clarification, and validation of results
